Shopping Cart Abandonment

Shopping cart abandonment can happen for a number of reasons and when it does happen, sites will try to induce the user to come back and complete the sale, usually by offering a discount. This happens quite often online where a person begins to order something and then stops to review other options that are available, forgetting about the order for the minute and potentially not coming back at all.

Marketers count how many shopping cart abandonments there are within a set period of time and compares it to the amount of completed sales within that time period. The common rate of abandonment online is between sixty to eighty percent.
